worth getting i7 over i5

if you are one of those people that suffer regret - ie. this is great but I wish i had bought one of them then get the i7 - otherwise you will probably regret it.

you can still upgrade to the next one and get some of your money back selling used

dont worry what other people think, if it matters to you get the one YOU want

well tbh I've a lot of expenses,I would love to have the best...but saving £60 quid would be great,

It's like I would prefer to get 2 580's gfx cards but have to get 2 6950#s to stay within budget :/

Thanks for replies guys

FYI Pretty much nobody will be able to MAX out BF3.

Are you saying people won't be able to get smooth framerates at 1920x1080 with 4xAA and max details in game settings?

If so, nice troll attempt.

BF3 is not another Crysis, it's just a game that DICE likes to create a lot of hype about before release and people choke on it for some bizarre reason.

I wouldn't worry about it. Radeon 6970s in Crossfire get pretty much the same fps in Crysis/Warhead/BFBC2 as do GeForce GTX580 in SLI.

I doubt it's going to be any different with BF3.

I said MAX not scrubby 4xAA.

MAX != 4xAA for starters. Dice representatives themselves said it would be unlikely to be able to MAX it without exceptional hardware.

All that means is the engines got headroom to allow better hardware to grow into. Whether you want/need to push past the point of diminishing returns with regards to quality settings is your own choice but I think you will be surprised if you think you can set every option to the absolute max and have playable frames at a decent resolution.

Or you think DICE are lying for the sake of it and you can ramp up every single option and play on 3 monitors at 150FPS with last years hardware.

You still avoid defining what maxing out a game means.

Most configurations will struggle in rendering DirectX 11 titles in Eyefinity 6-monitor setups but that is not what most people consider "maxing out" the graphics.

Assuming that a vast majority of gamers are gaming at 1920x1080 and there is no noticeable loss in quality when going from 8xAA to 4xAA plus we avoid using forced AA settings, I don't see why gamers with high-end hardware would not be able to "max" this game out.

I doubt it will be as resource hungry as Metro 2033 and even that can be played smoothly at 1920x1200 and even 2560x1600 MAXED OUT.
