Ok so i have decided to go for a new 8800gtx. i would like a bfg one seen as they have lifetime warranties. I have found good prices for the oc and the oc2 version. The question is, is do i pay the extra £60 for the oc2 version?

oc-600 core, 1800 mem, 1400 shader
oc2 626 core, 2000 mem, 1450 shader

worth it or will the performance difference be negligible?

Would love to know where you've seen it! But obviously that breaks the rules.
I've not looked outside of the box due to the massive price, but I may be tempted if it is really that much cheaper...£400 is just too much to spend on a graphics card!

yeh your probably right. For a performance gain of pobably like 2-4% with the higher clocks it kinda doesnt seem worth it.

£60 not worth it, £10 yes. but you can OC the OC version to OC2 version :D

so dont bother paying, u could even flash the firmware of the OC with OC2 firmware which will make your OC a OC2 :p

No, not really. The only thing you can't overclock is the shaders but as it's only a 50mhz increase it will not make that much difference.
You can easily clock it yourself to get the extra GPU and memory clock speeds.

I guess the best argument for buying the BFG oc2 version is that its guaranteed at that clock and also carries the lifetime guarantee at the higher clock and is cherry picked for this speed.

would agree that £60 is not really worth it. You can clock it yourself though obviously that is not guaranteed. Is a "lifetime" warranty all that important if chances are you're only gonna keep the card a year or two anyway?

Aye in reality the useful life of a graphics card these days is prob in the region of 12 to 18 months before it struggles on any settings higher than medium.

Ive seen the BFG OC2 at £390 inclusive as a guide point. (still far too high due to lack of competition at this moment in time)

Will the cooling on the oc version be able to take the oc2 versions clocks if i was going to overclock it?

Also how will bfg know that i overclocked it? I don't really want to lose the lifetime warranty.
