Basically as above; worth getting headphones like that with only the onboard "8 channel AC'97 2.3 Audio by Realtek ALC850" on my 9NPAJ?
To clarify a bit more, i'm currently using a pair of bog standard Phillips HP090's. Good stereo headphones, but nothing special and showing their age now, so i'm after something a bit fancier. Mostly used for music and gaming (not as much as i'd like though) and the odd movie or two.
I was given a pair of Edimensional Audio FX's at xmas which were truely pants and bought in November so no sending them back. Still trying to get shot of the damn things...
My dad has a set of Sennheiser RS 110's which I was quite impressed with though, and really enjoy the sound (much better bass than the phillips) and freedom of. I was intending to get some RS 120's untill I realized PC 160's off here were the same price, which is definitely tempting.
So is worth getting without a dedicated soundcard or would you just not get the full benefit out of them?
Also, is it really worth the good £20+ between the 150's and 160's for the surround sound.. I do currently struggle to locate where footsteps are coming from in games but £20 is a fair difference.
