Heya, as topic title really...

I got a pretty decent Viewsonic VX912 at the mo, it plays games good and all that...but starting to think I might want a bigger screen...

Ain't really got the £600 needed for a 24inch dell widescreen and was wondering if it would be worth going for that new Belinea one on the ocuk main page for £200 + vat?

Not sure how much my VX912 is worth now though, paid about £325 for it 18 months ago....how much you reckon it would go for on an unspecified auction site.

cheers. :)

I would say..defintely. You will notice a big difference...especially with a 22". Widescreen is also so much better for gaming. One thing to note though...if you want to play at the native resolution 1680x1050...you need to have a pretty decent graphics card also.

Youll get a price if you post a thread in the price check area of the forums.

edit....8800GTX...man go for it!!!!

I went from 19 inch to 32 inch widescreen.... its only 1360 x 760 but im happy with it..responds well in all games...and playing games like rome total war ...wow

lol, oh right....just a month or two to go then ;

cheers for the help though.

I'm a little conncerned about games though in widescreen, hardly any older games support it and even most recent games don't really...

What do you do if it doesn't support widescreen? Run fullscreen with a streched image, (fine by me) or lose the sides? (not fine by me)

Thanks :)

Deffinately worthwhile, you do have a great screen already but I'd still upgrade.

About 90% of games there is a solution for and it either runs the game at the native resolution or it forces the game to output at the native making it stretch a little. Stretching it provides little to no detriment in games in my opinion.
The other 10% of games you'll be running at resolution lower than your native and either having black bars (YUCK) or stretching it through the screens scaling process. This isn't much fun either way to be honest and rarely looks good, but thankfully it is a small ammount of games that suffer and they're often older.

And yes, 1360x768 is typically a 32 and 37 inch LCD TV resolution, those will generally cost you atleast 700 and go up to 1200 for something decent in the 32 inch range.

Cheers, was a bit worried that the widescreen displays were a bit of a scam, as I was thinking a non widescreen 22 inch would be better, but guess not, its hard to know until you've used one I guess, I ain't actually ever played a game or anything on a widescreen monitor...

Just gotta save up a few more quid n think i'll be a happy chappy. :)

Once you've gone Widescreen you'll never go back.

I don't understand where people form the impression that Widescreen is a scam, fad or gimmick. We've had easily available tv sets for what, 8-9+ years now.
Movies have been shot in larger than 4:3 ratio for about 50 bloody years.
HDTV is the future and yep, 720p and 1080p are both widescreen.
Most current gen consoles you buy will be outputting HD resolutions if you have the hardware.

It's here to stay, it's more enjoyable for all media types and computing use. I imagine by 2010 you won't find 4:3 ratio screens produced anywhere.

I've just gone from a dell 19" to a viewsonic vx2235wm 22" widescreen today,

it makes soooo much difference, it seems huge. and it makes my 360 look amazing!
