Worth going from a 3070 to a 5070?

I'm currently running a 1440p ultrawide on a 3070 and feel it still does pretty well. Is it worth upgrading to a 5070? Or wait another gen?

I would wait to see what 9070/XT offers don't see why just commit to 5070 when you haven't seen every option first, not sure I would wanna be paying £500+ for 12gb vram and looking how gimped it is

I am a 3080 owner, not upgrading cause I am happy with my card.

If I had a 3070, I might be getting the itch due to vram. I'd consider the 5070 but 12GB of vram does seem quite stingy. I would also be looking at 4000/7000 series cards 2nd hand, or whatever AMD plops out

I've got a 3080FE 10Gb and might upgrade to a 9070XT 16Gb if it's a match for the 5070TI and priced less than £650. If it's £750 like the 5070Ti is likely to be then forgetting about it and waiting for next gen. The 12gb 5070 is not an option at all since many games will probably use more than that soon. Indiana Jones doesn't even work with RT on my card.

Answer, no. Get RX 9070XT from AMD. Nvidia is taking the mickey. When the only 16 gig VRAM card costs up to £750.00 - £900.00-looking at you RTX 5070Ti

Of course this will depend on the price (RX 9070Ti). If AMD messes up and decides to charge too much.

Currently on 3080 , and if something in the £500-£600 range is worth considering I'll upgrade, that leaves 5070 and 9070/xt, can already tell 5070 is a no go looking at how scaled back it is and with 12gb vram , 5070ti won't have FE so that's probably £800+

Only real option is looking like AMD hoping it's near 4080 type performance

The 9070XT will work much better since it is supposed to be matching a 4070Ti in RT workload.

That's what people used to say about the 7900XT and 7900XTX as well, when they were convincing themselves that AMD could match Nvidia in RT. They were wrong then:

And there is a strong chance you are wrong now, but we won't know until March as that is the supposed release time of AMDs 9070XT.

Indiana Jones as you said, also has that full path tracing option. There is no way of considering AMD if you want to turn on high RT or path tracing. I wish it were different, I really wish they were putting something out which could compete. We would all be better off for it as it would give us more choice and drive down prices. But as it stands and how it's likely to still stand in March. If you want RT/PT and you want decent frame rates, Nvidia's cards is all we have.

What game are you showing and what resolution?
How does 4070ti handle it with dlss at 1440p ?

That's Black Myth Wukong at 4K but using FSR 3 upscaling set to quality. It's from the Digital Foundry 5090 review

It's worth noting that India Jones full path tracing is a heavier work load than this, so AMD would be even worse against the RTX cards

Yeah I play at 1440p so 9070xt looks very promising as long as it's priced well , I already know how terrible the 5070 is without looking at benchmarks how close it is to the 4070 spec wise

Leaks are showing a massive leap for the 9070xt over the 7900xtx specifically in BMW raytracing.

The new Radeon cards will probably not be as good for RT, but it looks like the gap will lessen, certainly against the 5070.
