Hey guys

Quick question

Basically we're currently on a 2Mb connection from Orange, but lately had all sorts of problems, we're a bit far from the exchange from a start so we're lucky if we ever get true 2Mb, and besides evenings they've limited us to 512Kb as apparently we were downloading excessive amounts which I can assure anyone we weren't

My dad doesnt use the net for a start other than news and general browsing, and since my uni days finished, I barely download anything now except game patches etc

So, is it worth going over to the 20Mb Virgin deal? And whats with this Fibre-optic connection stuff? Is it much better and again worth switching for?

Cheers guys

If your not a heavy downloader I would go for the 4 meg option tbh with VM. Unless your in a really bad area for VM cable, go for it big time.

Regards

The Fibre optics are the backbone and dont in general run to the house. Virgin are OK, they will rate shape you down in the evenings, but are far less restrictive than other ISP's, but if your not dowloading much, then just go for the 10mb package as it is very rare that you will get 20Mb...

Ok cheers guys

It would be nice to have the option of downloading quite a lot if I wanted to

Part of the reason I don't now is 2Mb is quite slow, especially when it's never really 2Mb

If I had a decent connection I might download more demos and so on

then just go for the 10mb package as it is very rare that you will get 20Mb...

You will get the 20Mb, that just depends on where you are downloading from FTP servers and Newsgroups will max out your connection easily Http downloading is dependant of the website bandwith not the connection you have... 10Mb doesnt exist anymore that is the 20Mb service now. Unless I am really wrong its 2Mb, 4Mb and 20Mb services.
