I don't see anything wrong with your old build. I still have the 2500K with a 7870XT, which plays pretty much every game at 1080.

However if you want to max your games and want that bump then yes the I5 + 970 will do wonders. You don't exactly need the H100i cooler (could go for an aftermarket air cooler) but it is solid

Me and 5 friends run 2500Ks at around 4.4ghz with various high end GPUs (titan, 970, 290x, 980ti) and none of us see CPU bottlenecks.

I have a 2500K and a GTX 970, no issues with any game I have tried (at 1080p). No plan to upgrade the CPU yet.

the 4.4 i5 2500k and the GTX 970 would be fine. No bottlenecks should be seen. All you may get from the;
"i5 4690k..msi gaming 5 mobo..8gb ram 1600mhz(think thats the max i can use) a gtx 970 a samsung"
upgrade would be slightly better minimum FPS but that much money for that isn't worth it IMO. Unless you don't care about the money :D

+1 for ssd and a 970.

If you feel like splashing the cash though, I'd get an OCUK techlabs custom water kit and clock the 2500k higher just for s***s and giggles. It would also be much quieter than any AIO, and you could easily carry the loop forward to another build, or expand it to take your gpu on :D

what he said!

2500k still cuts it when clocked, and mine feeds my 2 670s fine! (moving to a 780ti next week as ARK doesn't play nice with SLI :'( )

just a 970 and SSD would do great with your setup.

if you really want to spend some money, get a 980ti!
