Worth it? GTX 970 Upgrade?

Current spec in sig. Would it be worth upgrading to a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW "Plus Edition" ACX 2.0 4096MB?

Any realtime gain in this upgrade over what I already have? Also any idea on what my card is worth if I sell it on eBay etc?

Any comments and help much appreciated!


Edit: or is it worth going the R9 390 route?

It will be faster of course but a R9 390 is a bit faster than the 970 and for a lower price. The gain from a 7970 is almost as fast as going 7970 crossfire

Indeed this is what I have been seeing from benches and reviews.

I only thing that sways me towards Nvidia is the driver situation with AMD is hopeless, they release drivers every 6 month if not longer.....All that extra power only gets harnessed in newly released games 6 months after their release lol

They release every month...unless you are waiting for WHQL drivers

I went from a 280x to a 970 and definitely noticed it. I went secondhand on my 970, got a Gigabyte G1 edition for £220. In terms of drivers, I have experienced more driver crashes on Nvidia than AMD already - but they are still pretty rare. In terms of FPS, I went from a mix of low/medium on Witcher 3 1440p 60fps to a mix of medium/high/ultra at 1440p 60fps. Also, if you do go for a 970, overclock it like mad if you can as it can reach near stock 980 performance!
