well it seems im finally at my limit with this system i cant tweak anything else but my card now and im wondering is it worth it as its so expensive.

10,800 in 3D Mark 06 id like to hit 11k+

my E6300 cpu is at @ 3080 1:1 so i dont know if im using the most of my single 8800 gtx at the minute and if overclocking will even give a few more fps.

i run at 1280x1024 and 1920x1440 in an rts game.

temps aint a problem under load it never goes above 60 either im just worried about my warranty.

can they tell if i overclocked the card if it did break in the year its under warranty? if its not physically burned and i dont intend to burn it just a mild overclock of say 630 core 2000 memory for now.

its an asus card btw

what kind of gains did others get in overclocking thier cards?

I'm no pro, but if you dont need the extra fps in games why stress your card? Does it not also limit the life of your card the more heat it is under?. I heard most 8800gtxs are cpu limited anyway...
No they cant tell if you overclock a card :)

i have trouble getting nice solid 70+ fps in call of duty 2 online maxed with 4x aa 1600x1200 16x af etc i dont want to lower aa or af either :/

its really the only game giving me grief as online need higher fps to seem smooth imo

70FPS??? anything over 40FPS is fine for first person 30FPS for strat games.

I assume your on an LCD at 60Hz if so just turn on Vsync and lock the FPS at 60 it will look very nice I assure you.

If CRT check you refresh rate and sync to that.

If you clock your card to 625/2000 you will break 11K. try 600/1900 if you worried about pushing it too far don't know any gtx that can't hit that.

in rivatuna my clock speeds are:

630/1030

What would the actual memory speed be? (i no 1030 isnt right for a 8800gtx..)

nah im on a crt with 85hz refresh rate at 1600x1200 somestimes fps drops to like 50 and sniping is a little hard but when i have 80 odd it just seems so much nicer if i got say a 7fps boost my min *** almost be 60 which is better. load temps on this gtx are 65c there after an hour of cod2 so temps are fine for pushing it.

im more worried about my warranty they cant tell if u overclocked your card if it fails?

The only reason to overclock your 8800 would be if you want to bench a little higher or if somehow you are getting poor frame rates in any games at those res :)

poor frame rates no but well heres is my story.

i find with this card 16x aa and af is playable on some games but there is v little difference if i go to say 8x maybe i gain what 1 fps lol the card hanbdles it thing is my min in this rts(medieval 2) will go to sometimes 14fps which is where i needed the boost.

same with online games 45-50 min i wanted 60 at my setttings for min.

going by advice its pretty safe to oc a 8800 if u are sensible i just did and well.

not bad i say my temps never hit over 65c once in that run of 3d mark 06 either and i see no artifacts.

i run the fan at 89% all the time.

is it wise to ipush for 650 core? what is everyone else running thier cards at and what are your load temps?

also whats the max temps i thought i read about artifacts once u see them its too late and u have damaged ** card kinda this true?

im using rivatuner it seems the shader clock has increased as well but it only shows my core at 620 and not 630 which is a bit weird :O

I can push my core to 650 but on the 2nd gfx card test in 06 my pc crashes... so i think i need to add more volts to the core... can someone explain to me how i can do that? :P

EDIT: dont think a volt mod would be wise on stock cooling

COD2 drops below 60 fps on a 8800 GTX?

sorry to say this, but thats really poor.. i think its terrible we have to pay so much for cards that cant even perform well.. and even on a game thats been out a while!
