Worth picking up a FE 1080Ti or wait

Back in stock at £679 at another retailer the 1080 ti FE is, or is it just worth waiting for a possible Volta card in a few months?

Do you think it will be a lot more powerful or just the usual 20 percent gain over previous cards

I don't think there will be consumer Volta until October at the earliest (and maybe not until 2019). Nobody can say what the gains will be. But a 1080ti easily handles 1440p and will continue to do so for some time.
Volta may be handy for the faster than 60hz HDR 4k monitors that will probably be feeding through around the time of whenever Volta releases.

You really think Volta is that far out? I highly doubt that myself. Nvidia has never gone that long without releasing a new card

Whilst they may not have consumer volta they have talked about Ampere as the nextgen consumer card.

When is another matter - maybe some news at GTC in march...

Only you can answer that tbf, but tbh I think it may be worth waiting the the hardware Async etc. It'll give quite a boost when utilised
