Worth Pre Flushing?

Just finished my first hardloop system, pressure tested etc etc.

Was wondering if it was worth doing a pre flush before filling system with final fluid? I was thinking disconnecting the pump return, filling with distilled water and then keep pumping for a litre or 2. Then using compressed air to blow remaining fluid out, ready for final fill?

i did clean all pipes while cutting but thought could be some small debris in blocks or rads erc.

no harm doing so.. however i've never had the need to.

I would only do this if i haven't flushed out the crap from new radiators etc.. and if you haven't cleaned the debris left over from cutting tubes, otherwise i think you are good to go.

No point unless you can filter out anything IMO. If you have any small bits of piping in the fluid it will just sit in any block/radiator when you drain it.

I used de ionized water and ran the loop overnight with just the pump powered on. I drained and disposed of all of that water and that worked as my flush. I had also flushed the radiator with a lot of water and then deonized water before I installed it. I also rinsed and made sure all tubes were clear of debris after cutting.

Most of the flushing is best done before you actually put it all together.

I pressure tested my first system but I still ran it first time with just distilled water in case I found a problem and needed to drain it. For various reasons I did need to drain it and ended up discarding the water and refilling with fluid. I inspected the water carefully and couldn't see anything in it. I had flushed my HW Labs and Alphacool rads with distilled and the only thing I saw was a tiny bit of metal swarf from one of them. So yes I did effectively pre-flush but I didn't need to.

I preflushed after pressure testing but this was because I had used coolant (blue) in the radiator and block prior, and as I was going to clear wanted all residue of the blue coolant out

Well I did end up doing a small 1litre flush, even though I was super careful and washed all my cuts, surprising a few littles bits of debris did shoot out, so happy I did it really.

Took no effort as well as I have a long bit of pipe left so stuck that in a bucket on the last return before the res.
