Just ordered Win7 Home Premium to put on my desktop, now wondering if I should get it to put on my laptop too - the problem is I'm not sure if it's worth it given the lappys spec.
It's an Acer Travelmate 2414WLMi with
Celeron M340 1.6Ghz processor
2x1Gb DDR400 dual channel (originally shipped with 1x256Mb, soon binned that!)
40Gb 5400rpm hard drive
Usual Intel integrated graphics (G915 I think) and sound, networking etc.
If I put Win7 on that, is it likely to kill what little performance it has?
(It's only really used for surfing, email and Word docs)
The only reason I'm thinking of it is to make use of the Homegroup feature for ease of sharing docs with my desktop pc, as no matter what I share it just doesn't seem that the laptop (XPHome) can access files on the desktop (XPPro.)
Since Win7 is such a bargain right now, is it worth the upgrade, or should I just not bother?
