Worth swapping 2900XT for 3870

As title.. I can get around £100 for my 2900 so is it worth doing and spending an extra £20 and getting a 3870.. Or is it more worth me putting in an extra £50 and going for an 8800GT? Or an extra £60 and getting the BFG OC version?

Am swayed by the 3870 as I've usually had ATI cards. What is the power consumption and heat output like between the GT and the 3870?

Any thoughts?

This would be better if you can stretch to it :- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-002-PN&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1008 its only £146 that one, and no point on an OC model, as you can just do it yourself by moving a couple of sliders in about 5 seconds.

Not worth going for the 3870 from the 2900 XT, as its the exact same card, just uses less power, and gives out less heat as its on a smaller process, may as well get the GT and make it worthwhile, the GT uses less power underload than the 3870, and is much faster when AA is applied, or you could get the new 9600 GT, as even thats faster than the 3870 with AA enabled.

Yeah if you can stretch that far, they do use quite a bit of power though, and throw out some heat.

Won't be going for an X2, no matter how tempted I am.. I'm not a fan of dual card things, would rather just have one decent one. Plus I've got a WC loop in my PC and adding an X2 would mean having to add an extra water block and I've only just redone my loop!

Am tempted by the GT.. See what you mean about the OC versions, might as well just do it myself! Just not sure if I should stretch to the extra money, was meant to be having a month where I don't buy anything!

Whats the difference between the Leadtek and PNY GTs? Both the same price now but the PNY was originally more just reduced on This Week Only..

Hmm, I think I have been swayed to the GT! Joining the dark side..

Are all the boards the same or are some manufacturers better overclockers than others. I'm looking at the PNY and Leadtek cards as they are the cheapest..
