Worth the change?

Is it worth changing from an AMD 6400 Black edition to:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB)

I know a new mobo would also be needed. Just wondering if it would be worth the expense? I do game and edit videos etc.

Swings and roundabouts a bit, but looks like generally it will be quicker. They overclock easily so you can get further performance that way too.

So, if i didnt want to overclock i may as well stay with the 6400?

It is enough to get decent performance in games yeah, I wouldn't do that upgrade.

Yep pretty much. What graphics card do you have and which resolution do you use? As these are important as well

Games are mostly GPU limited, so I'm not sure it's worthwhile. For your video work, a Phenom could be a cost-effective upgrade if your existing motherboard supports them.

I have an 8600 GT 512mb on a 20" TFT. I am planning to get a 4850 soon though.
