Worth the effort/money?

Hi.

This might be a really silly question (already know the answer just need it drilling into me lol).

I currently have a Asus 7950 TOP V2. I really have the upgrade itch and the price of the 7970 matrix platinum is so tempting.

So that's my question, is their any point going from my card to the 7970 platinum? After selling my card and the games I would imagine it would cost me about £50/£60. Worth it?

I play at 1920x1080p 120hz. My 7950 happily running at 1150mhz core and 1650 memory. Could do 1200mhz core also.

I'm not really a fan of xfire or sli setups, prefer using single card. Also I would want two of the same cards and not sure if I'd have the room/breathing space for two triple slot coolers.

I would keep it as it is. You wont see a huge boost considering that you should be fairly comfortable with an OC 7950 at 1080p. If you have the cash and the itch really gets to you, maybe wait for the new R9-290.

If the itch doesn't go away, then if there's a component that needs upgrading you could always spend the money on that instead (I assume it's a different pc to the one in your sig, since there's a 780 in it).

Me, you and everyone else on the forum are hoping with you. Got a pny liquid cooled gtx 580 atm and have decided that any single card upgrade under £300 would be minimal for 1080p performance. Having said that, today's offers have tempted me greatly and if the R9-290 wasn't around the corner, i would have taken the plunge on two 7950s or 7970s by now.

Clock for clock there isn't much in it(<10%), I wouldn't bother mate.
