already a few bits and pieces in for my new build

inwin A1 case and a ROG X570I MITX mobo and my current Vega56 - gaming at 1440p atm but also going to switching to a 4k CX when they are properly available

torn between these 2 options

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £463.67 (includes shipping: £8.70)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £718.87 (includes shipping: £9.90)

would it really be worth the extra spend or is there a better bang for buck combo that i could look at?

I wouldn't bother with the Samsung SSD, you wont notice a difference between that and the WD SN550.

I'd probably go for the 3700X over the 3600 if my budget allowed, you'll get better longevity out of it.

If you just intend to set XMP and forget about it I'm not sure if I'd bother with the 8 Pack stuff personally.

Here's a middle ground for 32GB of RAM:

If you consider that the price difference between the two setups you're looking at is in excess of £250, you could always save the extra and put it towards a new GPU when they launch later in the year.

If you want to stay at high end without updating CPU soon in next-gen games take 3700X.
I mean next-gen consoles bring non-boosting variant of as base level.

2x16GB 3200MHz CL16 works well for good price.
Command interleaving of dual rank DIMM gives performance boost per clocks speed in memory usage heavy games.

And just forget Samsung's brand overprices.
Heck, you can get "full speed" 3+GB/s drive for only £10 more than WD SN550:

It's difficult to give advice without more information - specifically what games or type of games do you play? what refresh rate do you want? Will the computer be used solely for gaming or will you use it for other purposes too, and if so, what?
Unless your current PC is hopeless I would say now is a terrible time to buy; if you wait till later in the year AMD's new processors will be out which will allow you to get more performance from the new range for the same price or pick up a 3000 series processor much cheaper as they will be end of life products by then. Product shortages are also artificially inflating prices of many IT products just now which is just basic supply and demand at work.

Currently play Fm2020 and cities skyline

Plumped for a 3600x as a wait and see option can’t see me loosing too much if I change again this year

paired with 32gv of 3200mhz ram a Rog x570i my current vega56 and a 1tb sabrent rocket should provide a reasonable boost from my 2600k I’d imagine

According to the gamers nexus video I just watched, A ryzen 3 3300x is enough to power an rtx 2070 super without bottlenecking even at 1080p.

The biggest saving I'd make is by getting 16gb of memory instead of 32gb. Are you doing anything that requires 32gb or are you thinking ahead?

I run 32gb of ram with my old 2600k

certain games ie cities skyline make good use of it
