i hardly ever listen to music on my PC this is just for gaming

it's just £135 for a sound card seems a bit ludicrous to me

Then don't get the Fatal1ty edition.
Personally, I consider it to offer the worst value of the X-Fi series.
The extra 62MB of X-RAM has very limited benefit at the moment.

If you don't need the front bay, just get the Xtreme Music. It is about half the £135 price you quoted for the Fatal1ty. And even if you need the front bay, the Platinum is adequate.

yeah it should be a good upgrade, im gonna go from a Audigy 2 to an Xtreme Music soon
