Next gen cards are expected around Q3/Q4 2009 so you have got a minimum of about 4/5 months for them.
Upgrading depends on a few of things I guess:
1. Are you unhappy with your current FPS in games?
2. What resolution do you game at?
3. Can you afford it?
The 295 is undoubtedly a good card however, not many people think it is value for money. Are you absolutely sticking with team green? The 4870X2 should also be considered...

My bfg 280gtx ocx is a very good card and i really think i could make it last for a long time. The only game thats coming out that will test it is Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, but i think it should be ok.

I'd wait personally, I had a X2 at that res (I don't game much too) and I "downgraded" to a 260-216.
