I plan on updating my current nVidia 9800GTX graphics card with an ATI HD5850 as well as my mobo, CPU and RAM.

Basically, what kind of increase in graphics performance should I be expecting? Currently I am playing MW2 with AA off because otherwise it hangs when explosions go of nearby or there is a big CQB gunfight. However with it off I can hit 90FPS at 1440x900. What kind of FPS will I be looking at with AA on 2x or 4x at that resolution with graphics maxed out?
 
With my 5850 on MW2 at 1680x1050, the FPS never dropped below the 92fps limit (except if some pillock had thrown about 5 smoke grenades) at 4x AA, full settings. 120Hz.
 
Going from a 9800gtx to a 5850 should be more than double the performance. Iirc two x 9800gtx = approx a 280gtx, and a 5850 is better than a 280.
 
Nice! Thanks for the info! I suppose the 5830 would do what I want, but a GFX card is something you carry between builds for a while, so may as well get a better one now, and I can always add another in XFire if I have to in the future.
