HI i have a few funds to upgrade my GPU. im gaming at 1440p monitor is 144hz but clearly i dont hit that. now that prices are dropping is it worth upgrading RTX2060 Super to RTX 3060 ti , ive seen them for as low as £399.

I was planning on giving my old card to the GF , son for xmas, so i cant get any money back etc..

there is no rush, will there be more of a drop if the 4000 cards come out?

I'm on a 1080TI at 1440p. Wouldn't touch a 3060Ti @ £400, tbh. Don't think the jump will be big enough for you either, unless all the games you want to play have DLSS/ray-tracing and you are desperate for it.

You sound like you are in no rush, so I'd wait. Even the 3000 series seem to be headed for further discounts shortly, so I'd be looking at a 3070/Ti minimum. New 4060 is probably 2023 release.

The 3060 Ti is quite a lot faster.
The 3070 offers a jump that is pretty big, I went from a 2060 non Super to a 3070 and the difference was massive.

I would wait until 6800XT or 3700TI comes near budget.
Prices for high end dropped quite a lot. Not a bad deal, but mid still overpriced.
When you compare how much more performance for not much more money, you notice that anything lesser than the mentioned cards still too expensive.

It depends what you can get the rtx3060ti for. When i got a 2060s of ocuk a few years back it was for £300 at the time, the 3060ti FE will cost £370 just for a few extra fps and better ray tracing etc. is it worth it for for such a small upgrade. personally i would wait for the rtx4000 series.

If you really want to give your card away for Xmas then I would hold on a few weeks more to see if Nvidia prices reduce further as we know that there are 100s of millions of dollars worth of excess Nvidia gpus. Some people skip a generation of gpu or 2 before they buy a new card. If you can wait until after Xmas for the next gen then those cards should give a better than 50% increase in performance for the power, which with electricity prices going up so much isn't a bad thing. I wonder how much the value of power hungry secondhand cards like the Vega 64 will be affected by the price of electricity this time next year

Too small a step IMO. The 2060 Super is almost as fast as a 2070. At best you will get 2080 performance. Not worth it.

Go 3070 or above if you want a proper upgrade.

To join the echo chamber, I'd say hold off a few months to see what prices do on the 3000 series.

However... it is worth noting you probably won't see the tier of card your looking for in the new gen (4000 or 7000 series) until early 2023. Id guess the 3060 replacement won't be available until January-February. The only card that will be released i.e. available for purchase this year are the flagships which are likely out of your price range and won't affect the mid-tier pricing too much.
