Worth upgrading 6950CF?

I've just completed a system upgrade from an X58 i7 920 (i7-920 @ 4.2GHz, 6GB OCZ Obsidian 12800, Asus P6X58D) to an X79 i7-3820 (i7-3820 @ 5GHz, Custom Watercooled, 32GB Kingston Hyper-X, Asus P9X79 PRO), and am wondering if my system now outclasses my GPUs by enough of an amount to warrant an upgrade? I currently have two 2GB 6950s that are shader unlocked and clocked to 930/1400.

Other than reducing heat/noise (which isn't a concern), I don't seem to be able to gain much by moving to a higher-end single GPU, I'm happy with CrossFire performance and don't seem to have ever run into issues with any of the games I play.

I am currently "only" at 1920x1200 (24", 16:10), but plan to upgrade to a shiny new 27" display this year (month or two away), hopefully incurring a resolution bump in the process. With this in mind, should I be looking to upgrade my GPUs or will they cope?

Is there anything worth upgrading to at the moment? Is there anything on the horizon? Am I mad to even consider it?

I'm the same. 7970 and 680 simply is not capable of doing enough to attract me at the moment.
680's with 6+8pin and hopefully unlocked voltage control in the future might be interesting but they will come with additional cost and only be a side-grade for performance.
Going CF or SLI with the new cards is also much much more expensive and does not make sense to do if newer cards will be out around the end of the year.

Sit tight and if you have to buy then make sure it's on sale prices.

That's what my gut is telling me, I guess it's just "getting" to me that my GPUs getting on a bit, and the rest of my system is weeks old.

I guess I'll sit put for now then and see what nVidia bring to the table later in the year.

I'd probably wait a bit if I were you.

I'm a generation behind you, and I've been itching to upgrade for a while.

Only with the release of the 7970 and 680 does it look like I'd get a decent enough performance boost over my 5850CF's. Everything prior to those two didn't look like it'd offer enough performance to justify the cash.

I think all of us 6950/6970 CF owners should wait a bit. Whether we can is another thing. I see almost daily some offer, or new type of 680 or 7970 that tempts me.
