cpu is stock, with sealed watercooler unit. fps gets bad in some games. some its alright though. is the cpu easy to overclock on this model do you know?
I'm not familiar with clocking Pre-Ryzen AMD CPUs but your CPU should hit 4.4Ghz - 4.7GHz with relative ease given your cooling.
The process shouldn't be difficult - moderate clocks are relatively straightforward on any platform that allows it - it's only when you start pushing the limits of your CPU that you have to start getting creative with BIOS settings. I would Google/YouTube for some guides (they'll be loads given its age) and introduce the clock you're after gradually.
Or, do a dedicated post on the overclocking section - there will be plenty of user advice available.
As mentioned before your R9 390 is still a worthy card and an RX 580 probably wouldn't give the major gains your after. If you game at 1440p you would need to look at a GTX 1070 for a major boost. But your CPU even when clocked may still be an issue with the games you play (bf1) - even when coupled with a 1070 at 1440p
But if you game at 1080p I would stick with the 390 and clock the CPU - or jump to Ryzen and stick with your 390 for a while if gaming at 1080p or stick in a 1070 for 1440p.
