ive got amd 4400 on socket 939 and just bought a 8800GT OC2, right now im running crysis, 1680 by 1050 with everything on high at around 30 fps, (no AA)

would be great to play with some AA however, even 2 times but i dont wanna reduce quality, and certainly not resolution.

i dont really want to replace my mobo, ram and cpu, and ive got asus a8n-e + some very poor ram, if any1 wants to know i can put details up later

question is, how much is this processor letting me down, is it 10-15 fps or 1-2. would like to hear from people using a 8800GT,

ran 3dmark06 b4 i reinstalled windows to get rid of the insanity i had going on

3DMark Score 8203 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score 3598
HDR/SM3.0 Score 4347
CPU Score 1652

if thats helpful:D

GT1 - Return To Proxycon 29.571 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest 30.392 FPS
CPU1 - Red Valley 0.521 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 0.839 FPS
HDR1 - Canyon Flight 50.124 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze 36.815 FPS

was thinking to overclock my cpu, but im in a bit of a messy situation, im pretty sure the arctic freezer 64 cooler i put on is stuck, mainly because its not locked on, took some force and its rigid now. think if i try to remove it, it will snap the mobo. temp is like 33 idle and like 41 load. so i dont know if i can remove it to put arctic silver (no idea what i used b4) and better cooler,

To get your cpu cooler off,, just release the lever and twist the cooler to break the seal, dont pull untill the seal has been broken tho, then take it off. Job done

Crysis is very GPU limited so upgrading CPU won't do you anygood or suddenly let you use AA. I mean I get around 30fps too with 3.1Ghz C2D and oced 8800GT.

you see when i was installing it i didnt pull down the leaver to secure it, because it started feeling like if i pulled lever down completely it would crack (too much pressure) its well stuck on.

thanks for the extra info anyway, looks like no AA for me :(

That's very normal and no it won't crack that easily. if you have not pulled that lever down you are not installing it correctly. And the thermal paste that comes with Arctic Freezer 64 is very decent (MX-1) so there is no need to remove it and reapply.

Its abit risky not pushing the the lever completely down? What about if the lever comes fully unlocked, bye bye graphics card and what ever else it hits on its way down, plus if the pc is on at the time it will short your boads out. Those cooler are too big and heavy for the lever NOT to be completely locked down..

It is actually reasonably tight and secure on the socket even with the lever up. It's just that you are not getting the optimum cooling without the extra pressure with the lever down.
