Worth upgrading from 1080 to 6700XT?

the 6700xt is about 50% faster than a 1080. so i'd say yes it's worth the upgrade...if you can get one that's sensibly priced

I'm looking at the MSI cards they have currently in stock here on OC.

Well depends the resolution you play at and how much you are gonna pay for the 6700xt

Currently I'm playing on a 2560x1440 resolution and an AOC Agon 144mhz G-sync monitor.

I paid about £500 for my 1080 card when I got it, and the 6700XT cards are around £770-800 at the time being.

Not at current prices. Probably cost you the best part of £400 to upgrade. I would get a 3080 FE or 3070Ti FE instead given you have a Gsync monitor.

I've been wondering if it would be worth picking up this card, but the price just feels way OTT and I have a G-Sync monitor (not that I use it!) and don't want to lose access to that.

Are you happy with the performance of your 1080? If not then upgrade. If you are then keep it. Only you can answer whether it's worth it.

What frame rate are you getting with your 1080?

Honestly i would look at what you could sell your 1080 for (£400-500) and then minus this from the cost of a new 6700 XT then you do that you can get a 6700 XT for near non-scalper cost (£250-350). It's up to you if you think the 50% performance upgrade is worth this cost plus you need to look at the technology upgrades you get from getting a current gen card vs 3 gen old card.

Prices are coming down a bit, not at OcuK but I’ve seen 6700 XTs £50 cheaper.

OP would you be selling the 3080 to offset some of the cost?

Once shops have cards consistently then prices will come down at some point.
at amd the msrp is half vs retail stores prices today.
really not good

A 6700xt above £600 seems crazy to me...
Thats too close to 3080FE... which is a much better card.

As you have the 1080 and it seems to be working fine, id hang on longer.

I'd wait for prices to come down and get a better card (certainly not a 6700XT at £700-£800). They will come down in prices and anything over MSRP is daft. A 3080FE at MSRP is really the only reasonable deal out there as some retailers are really having a laugh charging scalper prices. I know some retailers in the North of England are being really good and insisting on only charging MSRP whereas others are exploiting their loyal customers with insane prices motivated by greed.
I've decided to only buy any future hardware from those retailers that didn't choose to take advantage of their loyal customer base.

Or would I be better off waiting for the future?
As you've already got a card, hold out for a better deal. See what performance of the 3070Ti FE us like. Definitely try and get an 70/80 FE card, excellent value compared to the 6700XT pricing plus the bonus of working with you're monitor.

What about Price.

What scenario is better ?
Sell 1080 while u can for 400£ and then get what u can for let's say up to 800£?
Or wait for price To fall down and try grabbing Something like 6700 or 3070 for like 600£? Then sell 1080 for what ever. ?? Any shots?

Sell the 1080 now and get the 6700xt.

This. If you can sell your card its probably not a bad outlay. I think £700^ is not a good price for the 6700 although I see it bundled with PSUs for example that can sweeten the blow. As mentioned above £500 would be my tops I would like to pay for either 3070 or 6700 but I am aware of the lack of options you have.
