Hi,

for the last 5 years I have been running a 3570 in a SFF case mainly using for photo processing and some games. Computer is running fine, there is not one game that I feel cannot be played, but I would like it to be a bit faster in Lightroom.

With all the Spectre and Meltdown issues, is it worth upgrading to Coffee Lake?

Thx

i wouldnt be too much worried about the issues.as with everything often blown way out of proportion.

if the pc does what you need then its not that slow still now. if you want something for editing and the like then maybe wait a small while for ryzen 2 which would suit your needs nicely..

Consider Ryzen 2. It'll do everything your current does, while being almost as fast in single thread and vastly quicker in multi while also being cheaper. You want the high multi for lightroom, you get more of everything else for "free".
Even something like a 2600 on a B450 board will do well. Will beat the Intel soundly on everything but games. Launched in 3 days.

You are more than welcome my friend and weather has started to be just fantastic, almost 20oC!

Your need to wait at least until Intel release their refresh which they have said will be later in the year before you find CPU's with hardware fixes for Meltdown/Spectre.

Second half of 2018 according to this.

If you upgrade to anything new you will have to upgrade the ram to DDR4 which astronomically priced at the moment due to shady dealings within the DRAM industry. I have the same CPU as you and if I were upgrading I would probably look at getting a 2600X but the cost of memory and a half decent video card just puts me off purchasing anything PC related at the moment.
