My Specs are:

8GB ram
HIS 7950 iceq
win 7
ocz 650w psu

After the 780 price cuts I'm thinking of getting the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC.

I want to play BF4 on ultra at 60FPS@1080p.
After selling my 7950 and the free games it might only cost £250.

Thanks.

EDIT: My motherboard only have PCIE x 4 as the 2nd slot, so crossfire is a no go.

Maybe get a second 7950 ~£170, sell the games also, grab a better PSU to support CF and overclocking and you will be left with enough change for the BF4. (and pizza to enjoy it also)

Ofc I do not say that GTX780 isn't a viable option.

Not as much as you think... I just moved from a 4.6Ghz 2500k to a 4.7Ghz 2600k and to be honest, waste of time and money.

It's been proven on here many times that it causes a very noticeable bottle neck

2x7950 will be much better for BF4. Mantle will hopefully remove any CPU bottleneck.

You can't make a statement like that about something that may or may not
release the bottle neck when your recommending a purchase.

The most sensible upgrade from a 7950 for BF4 is another 7950, not a 780. If there is any CPU bottleneck, it'll apply just as much to a 780, which would cost more.

I never said get a 780, I just pointed out a proven fact that a 2500k bottle necks 2 mid-high range cards.

As for it bottle necking a 780 - it doesn't

Agree with this to be honest. Read a lot about it and considered an I7 but not at all convinced there would be much improvement for what would be a pricey 'upgrade'. :)

My two cents.

First point. Everyone knows that Broomsticks 780 is always able to provide 60fps minimum in all situations, regardless of settings or resolution used.

Second point. Scotty is right a 2500k will bottleneck 7950 setup so i would agree a single card would be the better option unless the op gets an i7.

Third point. I believe mantle will eliminate this bottlenecking problem in Battlefield 4. However there are no guarantees just yet. But you can quote me on this if im wrong come release time.

Fourt point. I've forgotten what the fourth point was. I knew it was a bad idea to make bullet points.

LtMatt, so you think I will be able to run ultra on a gtx 780 at 60FPS and is it a worthwhile upgrade?

I had a go earlier on my 780 for an hour in multiplayer, on 64 player maps it dropped below 60 a few times, drivers will still need ironing out from both sides for performance though and patches from EA/Dice.
