Hi guys, i'm wondering if it's worth buying a 4850 to replace my current XFX 8800 GTS 320mb. Is it worth the investment or should i wait till the bigger cards come down in price?

the 9800gtx+ is very good
not sure whether it justifies the extra 20/30 pounds though as i don't have a 4850
if you do get a 4850, a sapphire version is a good choice

9800GTX+ is the faster card if you use under 8x FSAA - 4850 does better with 8x FSAA but personally (and this is subjective) I think ATI needs 8x AA to look as good consitantly as nVidia at 4x.

Id say its worth it, the 4850 will absolutely slaughter it, and with it being 512mb you wont have a memory limitation either, so you can crank up the AA/AF etc... as well. :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Well, i am a hardcore gamer, i like to run games at 1440x900 (19" widescreen). At the moment my XFX 8800 GTS 320mb handles every game really well, so far the only games i've not been able to run at the highest settings with FPS over 30-40 is Crysis, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3.

I can still run them at pretty good graphical settings but lately i've been noticing the temps rising on my card too. So i want something which runs cooler. I'm thinking maybe i should wait a bit until i spend £120+ on a new card since i won't be able to see much difference in results straight away.

ive had both 4850 and the 9800gtx+.i kept the 9800gtx+,it is the better card, the 4850 had bad low dips especially in fallout 3,brothers in arms was a knightmayre .the 9800gtx+ was like a knife threw butter in every game i played at max, appart from crysis,at 1680x1050 res.
