Worth upgrading from SLi 7800GT's?

I'm currently thinking about upgrading my PC from A64 x2 to Core 2 Duo (Conroe), and wondering if I keep my existing GFX setup in the meantime (until DX10 is widely available)?

Currently on dual Gainward BLISS 512MB 7800GT's @ GTX speeds.

I had a 7800gtx SLI setup and swapped them out for a single 7900GTX during a bout of upgrade fever, I was disappointed tbh and ended up getting a 7950GX2 to tide me over. I'd definitely hang on until october, with hindsight I'd have kept the original SLI setup and waited for G80/R600. if you're going conroe then good luck finding a decent SLI board, they're rarer than hen's teeth atm.

Upgrade won't be until the tail end of next month in reality, I'm hoping to go for the asus premium SLI board that is currently on pre-order.

There really is NO need to upgrade from that unless you're running 1600x1200+

1680x1050 widescreen is the resolution I run

I have a pair of BFG 7800GT's running a 21" Sony Trinitron at 1600x1200@100hz with no problems at all. They still run every game i have maxxed out with all the eye candy.

Stick with what you have until something significantly faster comes out.

Upgrading would be a waste of money then IMO.

Doubling your RAM should be your no.1 priority.
