I'm upgrading my CPU, mobo and RAM soon to an i7 4770k. I currently have the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Dual Fan Quiet CPU Cooler.

I was thinking about getting the best CPU cooler on offer..probably the Phantek one. I'm wondering if it's really worth it, and to stick with what I have as I realised it will fit the new socket.

If you take your time and apply it as per the instructions, (see the video on the link above) its great stuff. A tiny drop in the middle of the ihs, and gradually spread it out to the edges.

Coollaboratory liquid ultra is my paste of choice now. But you have to be very careful when applying it as it is conductive. It's a good 4-5c better than the top end conventional pastes.

Tried this with my H100i... my temps were all over the place, reaching as high as 85 (normally ~67-70 with AS5) in OCCT. It's likely I applied it wrong though :( - back with my Arctic Silver 5, it's never let me down.

Would it be worth buying an extra fan to go in at the front? Currently have the Fractal R4 with the two fans which come with it. One at the back, one at the front.
