Hi all,

I am currently rocking an ancient ASRock M3N78D AM3 board and have the chance to get this ASUS M5A78L M/USB3 board for £25 from a friend.

My hardware is as follows:

AMD Phenom II 965BE
8GB Avexir Yellow 1600mhz RAM
XFX Pro550W Bronze
ASUS GTX560
CM Seidon 120M Water Cooler

Just wondering if it is worth getting the newer ASUS board over my current ASRock board...

I am looking to go piledriver 6 core soon, but what about overclocking my phenom on the new board etc

Thanks

Cinderz

I wouldn't bother. The 760 chipset has been around for a while now and you don't really want to run a piledriver off it. It has no vrm cooling and only has a 4 pin plug for the cpu. For Piledriver you really want a 990FX board with properly cooled vrm's, 8 pin socket and more power phases.
