is it worth getting a 2900 or 8800 over my 1950 pro , or should i get another pro and run cross fire? i only game at 1400x900 and a single pro seems to run bioshock fine i dont need tons of aa etc so what you think?

i wouldnt say it was worth an upgrade from that sort of graphics card not at this time, its not playing the waiting game its just being sensible.
ok so you dont have dx10 for another 2 or 3 months but the card you have at the end of it is a better choice (supposidly)
if you were using something like a 6600gt or 6800gt then i would say yes by all means if you are unhappy with your card that much upgrade.

I'm in a similar situation. Want to upgrade but waiting for now. x1950pro owns that price point of the market. Unbeatable :D. Only played bioshock demo but plays very well on max settings so can't justify the £ for now. Plus the longer you wait, the better (or cheaper) an upgrade will be

I'm in a similar boat - and I'm waiting. Currently owning a 7900GTO which is probably just below your card. In fact, I'm holding off playing Bioshock until I know it'll run peachy at 1680x1050.

ATI coming out with new stuff soon, and hopefully Nvidia's new G92 before the end of the year (estimated November time I think) - either way, as soon as something really fast (and quiet fanned) comes out, so does my credit card :)

im also confuseled as what to get. Currently have a 6800ultra but am tempted by the x1950pro. However, my heart says 'get a 8800gts' but my brain says 'get the x1950pro and wait till you do a full rig upgrade for a dx10.1 card'

hmmmmmm decisions decisions
