my lady asked me what i wanted for xmas and being ok for most things i thought about upgrading my graphics card, i have a shuttle system so it can't be to meaty and needs to be around £150

do you reckon it's worth doing? and if so what is a good one? i have lost touch as before this 9600GT i had a 6600Gt for like 5 years!

What resolution is your monitor and/or do you play Crysis at all?

If your resolution is less than 1680x1050 and/or your don't play Crysis, I'd consider just getting a nice monitor upgrade from her instead :) A shiny 22" monitor would be nice with that card in most games.

Alternatively, if you go for a graphics card I'd get a 4850.

I personally would get something else then. The 9600GT is still a good card and even if the 4850 can add on lots more AA and AF in games, do you really reckon that's worth £150?

Get something more interesting than a graphics card :)

I'd get the 4850 (as they're around £120 you'd still have £30 left over for a couple of new games) and sell the 9600gt. Would probably end up getting around £45-£50 for it.

I've got a 9600GT (a 130mhz oc on GPU and GDDR) at 1680x1050, and apart from Crysis, there's not a single game I can't run at max, most with AA :)

I wouldn't bother personally, as the only game I own that'd use the extra beef is Crysis/Warhead.

Obviously, many people on here are all about the newest hardware, but at 1680x1050, I don't think it's worth forking out the cash yet just for one game :)
