Worth upgrading or waiting?

Hi there,

Just a few questions as it's been a long time since I considered an upgrade. Well, about 2years but I that will be a long time for most of you lol.

My current setup is as follows:

AMD X2 4200+ SKT939 CPU (2.2ghz stock) running at 2.6ghz stable
2gb ddr ram
radeon x1950 pro 512mb pci-e graphics card
320gb hard drive
sound blaster live 5.1

Basically I don't know if it's worth spending money at the moment to upgrade to quad-core as I would need a new motherboard which would require new ram (ddr2) and then I would probably want to upgrade the x1950 pro to bring it up to spec with the rest.
I mainly use my computer for gaming, Left4Dead at the moment, some bf2 and css. Nothing major like crysis or anything so the games I play aren't too demanding.
Would it be best making some small changes like a new cooler and case and maybe some more ram and overclock the cpu a little more if I get a good cooler? Also maybe upgrade to the HD 4850 512mb as I can get one for around £100?

I'm so confused over the quad-core situation, part of me wants to jump on the bandwagon and go for a whole new rig and part of me wants to wait it out and get something in the future at a more reasonable price when I start to feel my current setup is inadequate, which I don't at the moment.

Thanks for any advice.

I dont see the point in you upgrading if your current system works fine for what you do....

Save up for I7, then it'll be a worthwhile upgrade.

new case would be the simplest change to that setup at the moment.

the 4850 would be a big improvement on the 1950 but not sure its worth the upgrade for what you play at the moment tbh.

as conan said if its working fine and doing what you need at the moment, wait for i7 to settle in then think about upgrading then.
