I currently have a Panasonic UB900 which I've had for about four years. Awesome player, built like a tank and I have no problems with it.

The only thing it lacks is DV support. I was wondering whether it's worth upgrading/swapping it for a newer UB820 which does have this support? What do people think?

I guess the main question is whether DV offers enough benefit over regular HDR10, for discs that have it, but also I've read that there are other HDR improvements on the UB820 which could offer better playback on standard HDR10 discs perhaps?

Is it worth the swap or should I just stick with my current player?

(yes the TV does support DV)

Several times I thought of replacing my 8500 with a UB900 too as they are meant to be the bees knees just the 2nd hand price putting me off as they retain their value.

Yeah it's an amazingly solid player and I'm actually loathe to get rid of it just to add DV.

I think he meant that Dynamic Tone Mapping can give you many of the perceived benefits of DV or HDR10+ for sources or players that don't support it.
