Hello I have an i9 14900KF with a Aorus B660I PRO DDR4 Mini ITX motherboard, I dont really want to replace the motherboard to then also have to buy DDR5. I play pretty much CS2 (Counter Strike 2) exclusively I currently have 2 x 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL16 I was just wondering if it would be worth me upgrading my ram to 4000MHz + kit like 4000,4200,4400 etc or if it wouldnt make that much of a difference? I have an RTX 2080 Super but I play very low stretched resolution so GPU shouldn't be too much of an issue I do have plans to upgrade this soon anyways but mainly intrigued about RAM.

Thanks

there will be gains, but marginal at best.
the real gain is going from ddr4 to ddr5, but as you're already aware, will need to change the board and ram.
as there is no further upgrade route and a dead platform, i'd personally rather leave it alone and save the cash instead

yeah that honestly makes sense, thank you

If you're desperate for more FPS then maybe have a look into overclocking it * and then you can see if the difference in CS2 is worth bothering for free.

* Don't do that if you have stuff on your drive you care about.

he got a b660 board so no overclocking except for bclk OC, which i would recommend anyone to stay away from unless they know what they're doing

I thought it was possible to change the needed volts (SA, VDDQ) for memory overclocking if you have a K-CPU? Hard to find confirmation though.

oh yea, memory overclocking already unlocked for b660
i thought you meant core overclocking tbh lol, in which case, can't be done on b660

Nah, just have a play with the ram, I think 4000 is achievable, but above that seems to depend if you can play with those volts, especially SA.

might see if i can increase my ram speed or adjust the timings possibly even order a faster kit on amazon and if its not much faster I could just return the kit
