Worth upgrading to dual core?

Ive currently got a AMD Opteron UP 144 San Diego 1.8GHz running @ 2.75gig 305fsb. Ive got a bit of money coming in and wondered if its worth me upgrading to dual core? If so which chip would be best for overclocking??

I would say the 3800 to be honest, should get a similar overclock out of it if you're lucky.

What do you use it for?

If it's gaming, there's more and more games on the horizon that will benefit substantially from dual cores, in addition to a few existing ones.

Yep. Having dual CPUs makes the machine so smooth.

I'd wait until you feel like you actually need it. That's what I'm going to do.

I would agree with Jokester here,

You already have a s939 system so with AMD pricing as it is a X2 3800 would see a nice boost.

They overclock nicely too.
