I currently have a Gigabyte 965P-S3 board with a Core 2 Duo E6300 and 4GB of PC5300 ram (though at 6400 speeds)
Basically is it really worth upgrading? I care more for gaming if anything and I'm led to believe I won't be CPU limited at 1920x1200 with a 3Ghz processor right?
The hardware above is approaching 2 years of age, but really we haven't exactly made leaps and bounds since then the faster dual cores come at 3Ghz standard and OC to 4Ghz+ nicely but that's not really a big deal as most games are still GPU limited.
I've got an 8800GT so I'll be upgrading that for sure, the only thing I'm worried about is the durability of the hardware I'm on now, I've never kept anything for this long before!
Edit: I do like this mobo and I'm pretty happy in other areas, got a good sound card (Xonar DX) and planning on a 1Tb hard drive soon so I think the only thing I should really be looking at is a new video card, what do you lot reckon?
Edit #2: I'm also on an Akasa 500W PSU, this powered my old 8800GTX just fine so would this cut the mustard for say a 4870? I hear they only consume a little bit more than an 8800GTX?
