i can max 1920x1200 so its not all about having the latest of everything.

Personally i would say deffo overclock your Q6600 3.2/3.6 and get something like a 280gtx or 260... rest is fine save the majority of your money pal. You can make it easily to the next 2! generations of i7, then you can get rid of the rest and transplant the 280 to a upgraded system.

With your budget, I'd go for a CPU cooler, graphics card, 24"+ monitor and maybe some faster RAM, depending on what you currently have, then overclock the CPU.

I would go for a better graphics card, and a nice CPU cooler(and get it 3ghz+). No need for any major upgrade with a rig like that, unless you inherit a 30" monitor anyways lol.
