i have the chance to come accross a relatively cheap q9550, im currently running a q6600 at 3.5 gig....im aware that the difference would be huge, but what are the chances of me running this chip any faster than the one i already have?

do you know what stepping it is? if its E0 then yes it should manage 4Ghz on air without too much trouble. Plus theres about a 10% clock for clock advantage over the 65nm parts.
