hi

curretnly i have a q6600 which ive been told is quite good at oc'ing But the motherboard is a nvidia sli 680I and ive tried oc'ing but only got too around 2.6 before it starts to crash?!

im thinking of buying a new gpu but currently mine would limit any decent gpu, so how do i get round the cpu without overclocking it (as the motherboard wont take it) and still being able to run a new high end gpu without limiting it?!

thanks :)

yea ive heard of people getting happily up to 3.2 ghz with the same chip!! how much do you think worths spending on a new mobo to get a fairy good one?

O would upgrade the mobo. Biostar did a few fantastic board. The t power was around £90 ish tho. Gigabyte also got good reviews for OC'ing. If you can afford it tho I would go for the biostar tho. Still some life in the ole Q6600 =)

You should get over 3.0 with that rig, its not just the motheboard and cpu, butthe psu and memory have a big effect as well

With out all the details cant help much. Have you read the overclocking threads? and you need one of the latest bios's as well

hmm i guess so! but id still be on the rather average mobo, when if i upgraded the mobo i could over clock my existing cpu and get to a high enough ghz for something like a 5870 not to be limited?
