Worth Upgrading?

Hi,

Been a Mac user for the last few years but want to get back into FSX. I have the following;

Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
Asus P6T Deluxe Intel X58
G.Skill 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 NQ PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz)
GeForce 9800GT 512MB

I'm considering upgrading to;

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77
TeamGroup Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz
GeForce GTX560Ti 1024MB

Would I see a considerable performance increase?

The i7 920, especially when overclocked, is still a very decent cpu.

I'd keep the CPU, MB and ram you have and use the cash to get a better GPU than the 560Ti.

as above id keep the 920, hell im still gaming happily on my q6600 i think your upgrading for the sake of it save your money for haswell imo

A graphics upgrade is the best thing to do. Your CPU is great and will be for a little while yet.

Get another 6gb of ram and a 7950/70 or 670

What cooler have u got for your CPU? Depending what it is get a decent one and Overclocke your CPU to 4ghz.

Yup, same as above.

My 920 only has a modest OC of 3.4 GHz, but paired with my GTX680 there's nothing game wise that it struggles with. It'll be another year before I think about upgrading, possibly longer.
