Worth upgrading?

I have got an upgrading itch and looking to upgrade from a 6950 CF to 7970. Is it worth it? are the next gen cards around the corner?

Only reason why I am thinking of upgrading is because of the heat generated from the two cards. My case fans are at full speed so quite noisy to cool the PC.

I'd look at getting quieter case fans first unless those cards in xfire are struggling which seems unlikely.

That would be a side grade, at best.

I'd get a fan controller/quieter fans.

sort out the fans! 2x 6950 in xfire will be fine until the 8000 series comes out in a few months

Thanks for the replies, its not just the heat only. Thinking about power efficiency too or might just change case+motherboard as everything is cramped and sata ports covered by cards.

Have two venom fans at the front of PC and a side fan too.
