Worth upgrading?

Hey all,

Is it worth upgrading from my i7 860 @ 3.7GHz at the moment? I mainly play games.

I would get a decent air cooler and 8GB of 2000+MHz RAM too.

Are there any AMD processors (when overclocked) that would be better than my overclocked processor?

My Budget would be £450 for the mobo, cpu, RAM and cooler, as long as it was actually a decent upgrade. (by which I mean I wouldn't bother if it was going to cost 300 and be a meh upgrade)

no

spend the money on faster vga and sdd's would give better results

and when i say no, what i mean is you may get more cores, which your games wont see or use either as yet, well not with win 8, 9 maybe and a same amount of time for the games as year or more etc.

some amd chips are great, but worth spending more for any real game time speed, can't see it over your i7 that is

get 8gb ram and a decent gfx card ie. 7950

as above posters said, or just wait another year and build a whole new computer ?

If your Sig is accurate and you already have an SSD and a 7870 then either more ram or replace your existing ram to take you to 8GB or more would be the best move.
Your current CPU is still pretty good.
