Worth upgrading?

I currently have:

Gigabyte P55-UD5 motherboard
8gb Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 1600MHz
i5 760 @ 4ghzArctic Freezer Pro 7 Rev 2

Do you think it is worth selling these parts and upgrading for hopefully only a small cost? I think I would benefit from SATA3 as I have a Crucial M4 SSD but not too sure what the other gains would be.

The last kit I sold was a q6600, ran and motherboard then got the above 2nd hand which ended up costing me about £20

What do you use the system for?

In terms of performance you would not notice any real difference from a SATA 2 to 3 board.

If needed get a first gen i7 and slot it in, job done. It's not worth selling the lot and getting a Haswell system for the performance benefits.

Wait for next generation broadwell, probably about jan 2015

imo there's no point in upgrading on the cusp of when haswell becomes obsolete...

I find it never works if you wait for new stuff to release - if you do that, you will endlessly be waiting for a new thing to come out once you've waited for one thing, it just becomes a cycle. Buy whenever you need an upgrade, not want an upgrade imo

There is a difference. In my work place there are both sets

sata 3 doesn;t even finish 3 secs of the windows symbol on boot up but sata 2 finishes it...

it gets me every time because it looks like a crash but it boots so fast, i look down at my shoe lases then poof its at desktop...

true but not if you are of the mindset that you're keeping the comp for 4-8 years...

Thanks. So its either;

wait for next gen (prices of 2nd hand will drop) however i could keep waiting forever

Drop in an i7 cpu - which one will clock to 4ghz+ ?

Or upgrade and get sataIII because its fast, totally new cpu, board & ram
