Worth upgrading?

Currently still using the PC in my sig. Have been debating buying a whole new build but it seems like a crazy amount of money to spend when my components still hold up nicely.

Just with Fallout 4 and Battlefront releasing in November I think my GPU might start to let me down a bit, a problem I don't feel will happen with the rest of my kit.

TL-DR - Should I buy a TitanX to replace my GTX 690, or just get a new build?

EDIT: I play at 1440p - GTAV was all maxed besides textures, which required about 9GB of VRAM for max at this res.

Keep the 2700k, you wont see any significant change by going for a 4790k and the cost of a new motherboard and CPU is better spent on GPU power.

How did you know you required 9gb of Vram for GTAV is the 690 only has 2gb available?

I changed the texture quality from normal to high (without applying) and it updated the required VRAM that would be needed.

I went from a GTX 690 to Titan x, my CPU at the time was a I7 920 @3.4, it bottlenecked the Titan X a bit so I upgraded to a 5820k last month. I also game at 1440p

I sold my 690 for £225 to a mate, if I was buying now though I would get a 980ti or 2 of them for about £ 150extra than 1 tx. Or buy one 980ti and save the rest of money for next years upgrade.

The Fury x looks a good card too so if you can wait a bit longer for stock and proper reviews it maybe worth going Red team.

I would not buy a TX now though unless you going sli them in the future @ 4k.

The 690 is still a pretty powerful card. Depending on what games you play, I think the thing you'll notice most from upgrading to a Titan X is the better frame pacing a single card provides. If I were in your shoes though I'd probably wait for 300 series/ Fury benchmarks before deciding on an upgrade path.

Correct, the 690 is still a great card at 1080p and most games at 1440p. I had no problems with it in 2.5 years of use.

Coming from the 580 to 690 was a massive increase in performance. Going from a 690 to Titan x and the performance gap is not as big.

Plus the fact you have two cards at 2/3rd the price that arguably give just as good, if not better performance.

If this new card is really for Fallout 4 and Battlefront then maybe wait for their release and buy the card that performs best on these games in November.

Do you think I'd suffer from TX bottlenecks with the 2600k at 4.6? That was honestly my main concern.

No, you should be OK with one TX at that CPU clock speed.
