Worth waiting for quad core to drop in price?

Im thinking of upgrading from my amd opty 148 setup to a core2duo one, but is it worth doing now quad-core is here?

Is it going to drop in price and soon enough to warrent waitin?

(edit - the pc is for producing music if this info is of any use)

if i read that right the Q6600 $266 in a few month, thats a whole lot of chip for not a lot of money!

The Intel Xeon 3200 Series X3220 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz is cheap for a quad core at the moment

Definitely sit it out for another 2 months. It's what I'm doing and I'm on socket 939 still.

Is what i'm waiting for and why i have a poxy P4 in my rig. Used to be an e6600... and yes... i do notice the difference every time i try to do more than two things at once! Darn 'hyperthreading'!
