Hi guys!

I have an 7800GTX 256MB since last August and I thought I was OK for the next couple of years. However playing Oblivion really stressed my card. I have finally settled down to 1024x768x2AA with bloom effects. Do you think it would worth the cost to upgrade this VGA to a newer 7900GTX or 1900XT?

Thank you in advance

I've got a 7800GTX and to be honest, I was bitterly disappointed with it's preformance. Can't even run BF2 with all the settings on high and having AA at x4 and AF x8, in some places the frame rate drops to less than 30! On maps like Sharqui Pennisula it'll average 50FPS.

not worth upgrading imo. "the" card to have atm is the 7900GT which is basically the same performance as your card... so dont bother...

wait till DX10 and get a DX10 card, otherwise u will be throwing good money after bad

Somethink isnt quite right if your card is struggling to play Oblivion. What are your other pc`s spec`s.

A64 X2 4200 with 2GB RAM...The most obvious problem is on the outside levels during horse travelling or fighting. In the caves or buildings performance is much better.

A DX10 card is only going to be useful if you buy Windows Vista as that's the only OS that will be using DirectX 10.

something up with your pc in that case, i ran an X800GTO2 that ran BF2 on hich with full AF and 2X AA, a 7800GTX should stomp this ...

Well I score 4290, I'm building a new PC and selling this one soon anyway.

Its not your GTX's fault that it can't run Oblivion, its the game, check the big Oblivion performance thread, theres ppl in there with 2x GTX 512mb's in SLi, and they can't even run it well, even they get in the low 20's, but they are working on a patch that will boost performance.

@Jimi don't forget the 1x game as well by Crysis. :D
