That's the spec Im currently looking at costs around 615 ish
Was looking for some advice on possible upgrades (or future proofing) but i want to avoid marginal upgrades. £615 is a pretty good price, but i would spend £100 or so more if it would give me a decent upgrade or prevent me needing outlay more money in the future.
Any advice is greatly appreciated on compatibility and product choice too!

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

Second better edit out the competitor as it is against the rules.

A quick look I'd suggest getting the new ATI card 4850 at around the same sort of price but much better performance.

Ditch that PSU and get something like a 600 watt corsair.

Thanks for the fast reply, and oops @ the names, i editted them all out now i think.
Wow, first looks at the ATI card 4850 and reviews make me wonder how i didn't spot it earlier! Having a look around at them now and the PSUs you mentioned.
EDIT: Can you spot any potential conflicts or incompatibilities by the way? they are my main concern :)

dude you have left the competitors name and price at the bottom lol.

You will end up with a short stay.

Welcome btw. these ar very good boards but i suggest your read the rules their strict on competitor pricing and name dropping hinting. which is fair enough.

Unless you're a serious overclocker not sure if you need the fast RAM. Also 4850 looks like a clear winner over 8800GT.

So sorry :S can't believe i missed that one!
I wouldn't say im a serious overclocker, but im interested in it having read many articles and such on it.
The GTX+ is being released mid-July i've heard, which will result in a big price drop (around 40pound?) on the 9800s, think it's worth seeing how that pans out as far as graphics cards go? A lot of reviews i've seen seem to be split on how important the physX technology on the nvidia cards (being added to 8800 and 9800 in july), think the 4850 is a winner over 9800? I'm having real problems deciding even after reading the board discussion on it.
I'm aiming at high end gaming by the way if i didn't mention :)

More often than not, it looks like the 4850 beats the 9800GTX but it is very close. The 9800GTX+ will be better than the 4850, but probably slightly more expensive. Both are more powerful than the 8800GT, but you'll probably only really notice this difference if you play at high resolutions or you use lots of AA etc (or you're playing Crysis...).

It might be worth waiting until the end of July, by which time the 4870 and 9800GTX+ will be out, and I think prices are likely to change quite a lot between now and then (e.g. prices cuts on the horizon for 8800GTX, 9800GTX etc. etc. etc.).

Yeah, that sounds like good advice on the graphics card.
Apart from likely lowering the RAM a bit to save a bit of cash and switching my power supplies, does the rest of the spec look alright? (altho im assuming i'll have to completely re-do come the end of july...?). I'll keep myself up to date on everything by gazing over these forums i guess
