I see that the OEM version of the dual core AMD 64 3800 is going quite cheap this week..

I currently have a S939 3500 winchester core what Ive had for about a year running at 2.5-2.6. Is buying the dual core 3800 a worthwhile upgrade for lets say about £100.

Cheers

I think it would be worthwhile, + peolpe are getting 2.5/2.6Ghz from these.

You would need a good cooler tho, someting like Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro would do.

If I made it to 2.5 with the dual core 3800...would I notice any difference over my current system ie. one processor at 2.5 in general...used for gaming, video conversion etc. etc.

I allready have a zalman 7000Cu S939 cooler on my current cpu so that should be good enough.

In windows you will notice the difference. Games, currently only a few benefit from dual core, but more will fully utilize a dual core in the future.

I'd look at an Opti personally.
