Worthwhile upgrade?

Deliberating the following upgrades while I've taken everything out of my case for some modding....:)
I've currently got a DFI Sli-D NF 4 board, Opteron 144 CPU clocked to 2.7Ghz, 4x 512MB DDR RAM, an ATI X1800 256MB Gfx card and a 19" Samsung CRT flatscreen monitor.

I'm seriously considering whether upgrading to a C2D system with E6320, Gigabyte DS3-P, 2GB Geil Ram, 2 x 200GB WD SATA II HDD's and the 22" Samsung 226B LCD screen is worth while.

The screen will be the biggest noticeable difference but will the CPU power be noticeable in everyday use? It'll be mainly used for Photoshop, some gaming (HL2, BF2 etc...) and general "office" work.

Surely the 2GB Geil 6400C4 and C5 kits are better value as they are 800Mhz?

Nope i wouldn't say so, Crucial you can overclock to 800MHZ C3 and 1000MHZ C4, No problem.

Crucial your getting top class memory. :D

Stickroad is recommending that for its overclockability. The crucial ram can overclock from 667MHz to over 1000MHz stably.

The giel 6400 is better if you are keeping it at stock speeds, it doesn't overclock anything like as high though.

If you are an overclocker go for the Crucial PC5300.
